Asfordby FC hit GNG for six in stunning return to form

Have your say

Asfordby enjoyed a welcome return to form in only their second game in eight weeks.

They put in a committed and attacking display against a skilful, but ill disciplined GNG side.

In a 12-minute opening onslaught, the home side raced into a three-goal lead. The first came after a long kick from keeper Davies cleared the visitors’ defence, leaving Crowther to coolly fire into the corner.

Crowther got his second shortly afterwards when good work from Newton allowed him an easy close range finish.

Newton then grabbed his first with a well-struck shot from the edge of the area.

Crowther then set up Newton for a simple finish to make it 4-0 before GNG pulled one back just before the break.

Early in the second half, Knatt’s fine dribble ended with him being fouled in the are, and Crowther secured his hat-trick with a well-taken penalty.

GNG added a second before Newton got the goal of the game with a stunning 30-yard strike into the roof of the net to complete the scoring.
