Egerton Park racked up one of the biggest-ever totals in the Grantham and Melton Association on Sunday as they took the Rothley Park attack apart.

Having won the toss and batted first, the visitors lost skipper Jacob Bates without scoring, trapped lbw by Joseph Wright.

But there was little else for the home side to cheer as Jordan Woolcock hit 60 and Tom Mold made 93 before in-form Tom Glover weighed in with a brutal 150. Park posted 404-6 from their 40 overs, scored at a touch more than 10 an over.

In reply, Zaheer Hussain took three wickets, taking his weekend tally to eight, and Kamal Panchal did likewise as Rothley were dismissed for 121 in less than 27 overs.

The 283-run win took Park top of Division Two, level on points with Queniborough Second XI who won the derby match with Syston by five wickets.

Division One leaders Ashby Carington saw their lead cut to three points as they suffered a five-wicket defeat at nearest rivals Houghton-on-the-Hill.

Belvoir are just eight points off top spot despite having their match abandoned at relegation-threatened Barkby.

In Division Three, Whissendine strengthened their grip on top spot with a routine six-wicket win at Skillington after bowling the hosts out for just 117.

But Thorpe Arnold maintained their chase and sit 26 points back after beating Barkston by 72 runs.
