Melton Mowbray’s Second XI hosted Countesthorpe Third XI, seeking their first Division Seven East win of the season.
Having lost the toss and been put in to bat, Melton started badly and lost three quick wickets.
Darren Smith (42) came to the wicket and added some stability, but wickets continued to fall at the other end before Jim Eccles (54 not out) hit a quickfire half-century late in the innings supported by last man Rupert Smallshaw.
From looking at a total of about 80, Melton recovered to be bowled out for 161 in the final over of the innings.
Countesthorpe started brightly, but were soon in trouble as Darren Smith took 6 for 37 from his 12 overs.
The visitors kept trying to go over the top, but three smart catches from Smallshaw had the top order back in the hut.
Only opener Willmott (31) showed any fight as Countesthorpe were bowled out for 78 in the 26th over to earn Melton a comfortable win by 83 runs.
