Bowling first on a damp wicket, Park had the ball jumping about, but chances went down until Creed made the breakthrough.

Good batting, allied to poor fielding from the visitors, saw the runs pile up with only Wade’s three wickets helping to slow down the run rate.

Barkby’s total of 235 at tea looked a good score, but with Simons and Pedlar reunited at the top of the order, Park set about the total with a solid 76 partnership until Pedlar fell four short of his maiden league 50.

Simons’ injury-plagued season continued as he limped off retired for 30, but this allowed Harris (59) and Beeken (39) to up the tempo.

When both fell, and Haffenden ran himself out without facing a ball, Park looked in trouble.

But some big hitting from Creed and a steady head from skipper Tyler steered the visitors towards the target, and Anderson’s boundary sealed a five-wicket win with two overs to spare.

Barkby: 235-6.

Park: Pedlar 46, Simons 30 retd, Harris 59, Beeken 39, Tyler 29*, Haffenden 0, Creed 19, Anderson 4*, Extras . Total: 236-5.
