The visitors chose to bat first, and Dalby’s bowling attack of 15-year-old Harry Towne and Ed Purcell kept things tight in the opening overs as Sproxton found it hard to score.

In Towne’s second over he blitzed the Sproxton batting line-up with four wickets, including a hat-trick to finish with figures of 5 for 11 from his four overs.

Webster Freckingham’s magnificent spin bowling had the batsmen bamboozled to claim three wickets for just eight runs, while Sid Silverwood kept things tight at the other end and took a wicket, leaving Will Gent to close out the innings with the final wicket as Sproxton were bowled out for 46.

In reply, Dalby up mixed the batting order and sent in opening bowler Alfie Greaves (15) and senior Mick Coulter.

The pair saw the game out with some magnificent strokeplay, Coulter finishing 21 not out and Greaves unbeaten on 29, sealing the win with a great six.
