On arrival at the ground, Melton were shocked at the poor quality of both the track and outfield, and on winning the toss, Ratby won the toss and put the visitors into bat.

Melton mixed up the batting order to give everyone a knock, and despite some starts throughout the innings, no-one put in a big innings.

Simon Claricoats, James Culy and Karl Tew all produced 20s with Hugo Gibbs the top scorer with 39.

With constant drizzle falling throughout the innings and a poor track, Melton were bowled out for 146 in 36 overs.

The home side put the covers on at tea as rain continued to fall, and it didn’t relent as the umpires eventually called the game off at 4.30pm.

The abandonment saw Melton finish the season in joint fifth in Division Three.
