Doors open at the Market Tavern, in Melton, at 5.30pm with the action getting under way at 6pm.

Chief instructor Mark Barlow said: “We have 18 fights with 17 of them featuring Assassins. One of the most exciting fighters on is George Griffiths.”

The young Melton fighter is up against Spanish opponent Raul Melero, a dangerous, unorthodox and erratic Thai boxer.

“I’ve watched him fight on the internet and he is fast,” Barlow added.

“It should be an exciting bout. George has trained hard as usual and is ready to smash.”

Like most of the Assassins, Griffiths has come through the junior ranks and forms an exciting young team alongside Tyree Stevens, Peter Whitehead, and siblings Thai and Iman Barlow.

Elizabeth Griffiths will face a change of opponent and will now fight for a commonwealth title against Alicia Walker.

Barlow said: “Walker’s coach is putting the title on so he is very confident. Elizabeth intends to prove him wrong and take the title.”

Tickets are still available from Nicko’s Fish Bar, any Assassin member, from mark on 07876 543351 and from Iman via Facebook.
