Organisers have confirmed the horse racing meeting will now take place on Sunday, April 8, with first race off at 1pm.

As well as the racing, there will also be trade stands, food stalls, children’s fun fairs, and licensed bookmakers.

Tickets can still be booked online at www.garthorpe.com for £10. Entry on the gate will be £13, with free admission for ages 16 and under.

A day-long deluge on Monday on to already wet ground at the racecourse put the Belvoir meeting in doubt after a midweek inspection by BHA course inspectors.

The course was described as unraceable and unserviceable, but they said a further inspection would be held on Friday unless any further significant rain arrived in the meantime.

And the showers duly arrived overnight Wednesday and into Thursday, followed by confirmation of the postponement early on Thursday with parts of the course waterlogged.
