Barnstone pip Belvoir Vale by single shot

Barnstone Bowls Club pipped Belvoir Vale by the closest of margins as the Warren Triples League returned to Melton IBC on Saturday evening.

Vale forged into an eight-shot lead by the halfway mark, but Barnstone pushed hard to close the gap.

They reduced the arrears to three shots at 15 ends and then picked up 11 shots to Belvoir’s seven over the last three ends to win by just one shot.

The Hose-based club won three of the four rinks, but Barnstone were indebted to a 20-8 win by the rink of M. Eurich.

The other match produced a more comfortable victory for Syston against the hosts Melton.

The visitors quickly raced into a seven-shot lead after five ends and fought hard to increase their lead to 14 shots by the 15th end.

Melton attempted to close the gap, but Syston kept the pressure on to seal a maximum points victory.
