Barkby United captain Steve Flowers once again won the toss and decided to bat first on a flat track.
The visitors gave first team debuts to 15-year-olds Billy Tebbatt and Jack Johnson, who have come up through the junior ranks at Beeby Road.
Flowers and Ian Kirk got the innings off to a tremendous start, putting on 132 for the opening partnership before Flowers was caught behind off Franklin for 65.
Townsend was also caught behind off Franklin for nine, but Simon Lloyd-Phillips joined Kirk and they put on 58 for the third wicket before Franklin bowled Phillips for 23.
Kirk was the next man out, scoring 122 off 113 balls, an innings which included 16 fours.
Waplington struck a quick 17, and with Harby (13) and young Billy Tebbatt scoring 10 on his first team debut, Barkby’s innings finished on 282-9.
Houghton lost their first wicket with the score on 13 when James Kirk bowled Scudamore for two.
Akthar and Pedi took the score to 76 before Akthar was trapped LBW by Ian Kirk for 37.
Pedi and Silver moved the score on to 145 until Townsend trapped Pedi LBW to claim the first of his four-wicket haul,
Silver (60) and Ardley 41 took Houghton on to 197, and despite Barkby changing their bowlers, the home side hung on for a draw.
Barkby took a healthy 18 points from the match to lie fourth in Division One, 24 points off the promotion places.
