Angling: Canal is king at Lakeview Fishery

Have your say

The canal pool produced the top two weights at the veteran’s match at Lakeview Fishery last Wednesday.

Maggot was again the bait of the day and Cliff Adcock, fishing canal peg 26, found the fish down the track to win with 58lb.

On the opposite bank, Keith Daws was close behind with 56lb as he found the fish feeding down the margins. Steve Beckhurst also compiled a 50lb-plus bag with several more weights on canal exceeding 30lb.

The serpent also showed much improved weights, and Roger Parnell was lake winner with 53lb from runner-up Pete Sissons who netted 46lb.

With three anglers not weighing, the serpent still has some settling to do before everyone gets their fair share of fish.

* All 15 veteran match anglers fished the canal on Saturday, and it proved the right decision with good weights all round.

Fishing peg nine, winner Bob Greenbury (61lb) found the fish over against the island and was 9lb clear of second-placed Brian Orme who fished the margins with maggot.

Pete Sissons has found form in recent matches and finished third. With the lowest total tipping the scales at 19lb, the fish are now spreading around the lake looking for feed.
