On behalf of Melton Labour Party we would like to thank all those who voted for us in the election.
There were over 5,500 votes for Labour candidates in the town.
During the campaign we met so many wonderful and warm people that it hurts that we won’t be able to represent them and their views on Melton Borough Council.
Clearly it was a disappointing result for us, both nationally and locally.
But more importantly the issues that we raised will not go away just because a particular party has won an election; for example, we are concerned for those in our community
who are vulnerable, who rely on our health service, our schools or who can’t afford a decent home. We will continue to actively campaign locally, not only for the right politics such as a bypass for the town, but also for better, more efficient and competent services from our local council. Above all, we’ll stand for a positive, more prosperous, borough that works together for the benefit of all who live in our community.
We continue to believe that Melton deserves better, which is why we pledge to work even harder for the people of
Melton in the challenging weeks and months that surely lie ahead.
We aren’t going away, we’ll see you on the doorstep very soon.
