I was a casual visitor to the recent fete on Recreation Ground in Uppingham, which was very well arranged.
But I do find fault with the repertoire of the Corby Silver Band who, when they did play, like all similar bands, played lots of dull obscure music not in keeping with an upbeat cheerful occasion.
I would hope next year the organisers will perhaps create a happier note and book, not stuffy old village/town bands, but something a little brighter, even a DJ playing some good tunes would be preferable.
Isn’t it amazing how local brass/silver bands seem to steer clear of popular music, and can sit for ages playing not at all.
