A group of Melton knitters took part in a special event to promote the enjoyment of knitting for World Wide Knit in Public Day.

Knitters gathered inside More Coffee Co, in Market Place, for the 10th anniversary of the event to help create children’s toys in support of the charity Knit A Square.

World Wide Knit in Public Day is the largest knitter run event in the world and is unique in that each event is put together by volunteers to express their love of the craft and to pass on their knowledge of it.

Organiser Rebecca Price said: “It was a great day and I was pleased to see people attend not just from Melton but further a field.

“Everyone was able to socialise and several people asked me about knitting which is what it was about.”
