A spectacular wildlife open garden event has raised more than £250 for Welby Lane’s St Bartholomew Church restoration project.
The garden on Bowley Avenue, Melton, centred around a beautiful waterfall pond, which was the habitat for several fish, newts, frogs, toads and other critters. Visitors were also mesmerized by hedgehog and squirrel homes plus a bee hive.
The event included a homemade cake stall, raffle, water and wine stall and refreshments.
As well as raising funds for the church, the purpose of the day was to celebrate and remember the life of Gordon Garfoot who past away last year.
The garden is still available to view by appointment only. Call Margaret Hill on (01664) 411705.
