Tributes flood in for Melton woman who died after road crash

Tributes have been paid to a '˜bright and bubbly' Melton woman who died following a crash on the A6006 near Normanton-on-Soar, Nottinghamshire, on Thursday.

Amy Young (31), a former Long Field and King Edward VII School pupil, worked as a kennel assistant at Melton’s Defence Animal Centre (DAC).

Major Drew Tootal, Officer Commanding Veterinary Training Squadron at the DAC, said: “Amy was a bright and bubbly character who worked for seven years as a kennel assistant at the Defence Animal Centre. She was devoted to the dogs here, and was just as besotted with animals at home, amassing quite a collection of various species.

“Those who knew her well will recollect her ability to be heard clearly across a wide field while being dragged in all directions by one of the dogs on their walk. She had an uncanny ability to brighten a room, and was ceaseless in putting others before herself.

“The Defence Animal Centre has been stunned by the sudden loss of one of its own and our thoughts go out to her family at this dreadfully sad time.”

Tributes have also been flooding in for Amy on Facebook.

Kristine Daulby wrote: “One of the nicest girls I’ve met, such a genuine and happy young lady taken way too soon. Thinking of her family at this terrible time xxxxxx”

Carl Prackauskas, a groom/rider at the DAC, wrote: “What a sad day to be told you have lost one off your good friends and work mates, all the years together many years ago competing at all the local show-jumping shows, Going to miss our catch ups while heading into work, RIP.”

Dani A Vet wrote: “I don’t want to believe it. I’m devastated, for you and your family. You had such a beautiful, kind and loving heart. Always there for people. You’ve been such an amazing friend to me over the years. You lost your future and I lost a best friend. Neither can be replaced. I will miss you Xxxx”

The collision, which involved a Vauxhall van, a Peugeot car and an HGV, happened at around 1.05am on Thursday.

The van driver was taken to hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries before being released. The HGV driver wasn’t injured.

Nottinghamshire Police is appealing for anyone who saw the collision or has any information about it to call them on 101, quoting incident number 32 of August 4.

l Three men, aged 21, 22 and 25, have been arrested in connection with the crash and been bailed pending further enquiries.
