A woman was airlifted to hospital after a road collision involving two vehicles in Syston this afternoon (Monday, January 4).

The incident, om Melton Road, was reported to police shortly after 2pm. The road was still closed at the time of going to press.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “One woman was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham via air ambulance. Her injuries were not deemed to be life-threatening.”

Two fire engines – one from Eastern station and another from Birstall – were called as well as technical rescue after hearing that there were two people trapped. A road ambulance also attended the scene.
