A burst water pipe is the cause of the hole which has appeared in King Street, Melton.
At the time of going to press Severn Trent Water couldn’t say when the road would re-open but a spokesman for the firm added: “We were called out to a burst water pipe on King Street on Friday night (September 19).
“We went out immediately to investigate and managed to repair the damaged pipe. So we could fix the pipe we had to close the road, and we’re sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
“The pipe that burst was one of our larger pipes so it has caused some damage to the road. We’re now working to repair the road and restore it back to how it was before. To keep our teams and the local community safe we’ve had to close the road while we carry out the repairs. We’re again sorry for the disruption and we’re working as quickly as possible to get everything back to normal for the local community.”
