The driver, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed for some time but reopened at 2.40pm.

Det Con Seamus Burns, the investigating officer, said: “We know that the driver and vehicle left an address sometime after 11pm on Thursday night and although the emergency services were called at around 7.50am the following morning, there is a possibility that the collision may have happened in the hours earlier.

“We want to know if anyone saw the car after 11pm on Thursday night and the time it was reported on Friday?

“Or did they perhaps pass the location and saw damage to the tree or the hedgerow and thought nothing of it at the time?”

Anyone with information about the collision which could help with the police investigation, is urged to get in touch on 101 quoting incident 111 of August 24.
