Wheelie bin stickers are being used in a new eye-catching campaign aimed at tackling speeding across Leicestershire.
Free stickers reminding motorists of 30 and 40mph speed limits are available to communities across the Leicestershire Police force area who have a speeding problem.
It’s hoped the stickers, which will be visible from the road on the days the bins are emptied, will remind drivers to watch their speed.
The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Road Safety Partnership is supporting Leicestershire Police with the initiative.
Partnership spokesman Jonathan Clarkson said: “We hope this will be an effective reminder for motorists to check their speed while driving through built up residential areas.”
A Leicestershire Police spokesman added: “Last year 47,300 speeding offences were recorded across the force area and it remains a serious problem, in both urban and rural locations, leading to death and serious injury along with effecting the quality of life in our local communities.”
Local communities can get the stickers, while stocks last, by calling Leicestershire Police on (0116) 248 2440 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
