Police are appealing to two drivers to come forward as they continue to investigate the death of a teenager killed in a crash near Melton.

Greg Barnes (18), from Wymondham, died in a crash on the B676 Saxby Road, about 200m south of the junction with Brentingby, on Monday, April 11.

The black Ford Fiesta Greg was driving was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Mondeo at around 6.40pm.

Greg, a former John Ferneley College and Brooksby Melton College student, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dc Alison Ide, from the East Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The Fiesta was travelling along Saxby Road towards Melton and the Mondeo was travelling in the opposite direction when they were involved in the collision.

“We believe there were other vehicles in the area at the time of the collision and we’d like to speak to anyone who was driving along the B676 during the evening of Monday, April 11.

“We’d particularly like to speak to the drivers of two vehicles which were seen in the area just prior to the collision, an older-shape silver VW Golf and a 15-plate white vehicle described as being similar to a VW Scirocco.

“If you believe you can help trace the occupants of these vehicles or if you were driving in the area please contact the police 101 quoting incident 592 of April 11.”
