NEWSFLASH: Scalford man killed in road accident near Melton

A Scalford man has been killed after the vehicle he was driving was involved in a collision with another vehicle on the A606 near Nether Broughton on Saturday.

Simon Allen (54) was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened at about 12.16pm on the A606 Nottingham Road about 1.7 miles away from the junction with Clawson Lane.

Mr Allen was travelling in a black Ford Fiesta Zetec which was in collision with a silver Peugeot 407, which contained a man and woman, who were both taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. The woman was discharged the same day and the man was discharged the following day (Sunday).

Det Con Pete Davies, who is investigating the incident, said: “The Ford Fiesta was travelling along the A606 towards Melton and the Peugeot was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision occurred.

“If you witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand then we need to speak to you. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help with our enquiries.”
