Melton man (23) dies in collision on the B676

A 23-year-old man has died following a collision in Melton.

The incident took place at around 11.30pm last night (Tuesday) on the B676, about 700 metres from the A606 roundabout towards Six Hills.

It involved a Vespa scooter and a Mazda 3.

From enquiries conducted so far, police believe that the rider of the scooter had collided with an animal which caused him to come off his vehicle before he was struck by the car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car was arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant 1522 Mark Watling is appealing to anyone who saw the collision or either of the vehicles being driven beforehand.
