Air cadets and staff of 1279 (Melton Mowbray) squadron took part in a special event at the weekend aimed at increasing knowledge and developing skills.
The occasion was a Non-Commisioned Officer (NCO) Development Day, which was held on Saturday at the town branch’s Asfordby Road HQ.
Nine potential NCOs and current cadets filling that role took part in the event.
During the day, cadets discussed the qualities required in an NCO and the squadron NCO structure and came up with new ideas for the training programme.
Ft Lt Peter Knifton, the squadron’s commanding officer, said it was ‘a great success’.
He said: “The NCO team and potential NCOs worked really hard and have achieved a lot of great things in a short amount of time.
“I hope it has helped them to carry out their role and give them more confidence as an NCO on the unit.”
The Air Training Corps (ATC) offers young people aged 13 to 20 the chance to experience flying, gliding, adventure training and playing sports.
Anyone interested can go along to a session on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 7pm at the cadet HQ or log on at www.1279atc.org.uk
