The youngsters were taking part in an activities morning at the historic building.
Knotted handkerchiefs, sandals, sun hats, sunglasses and shorts were the order of the day.
There was fun in the sun at the summer extravaganza with a sandcastle competition proving particularly popular with the children.
There was also the chance to learn some circus skills, to decorate some cakes, take part in a fun sticker quiz and play an indoor game of ‘beach volleyball’.
Other activities included giant games, board games, craft for all ages and a chance to make a kite.
There was also a seaside photo booth and opportunities to learn and play chess and try lace-making.
The less energetic could just sit and read the day’s newspapers or chat over a nice cup of tea or coffee and a piece of cake.
Saturday activity mornings, which are free to attend, will not be held in August.
They re-start on September 12 when the theme will be ‘musical mayhem’.
