A popular quality clothes and accessories event will open its doors to the public to raise funds for cancer and dementia sufferers in Rutland to seek support and advice.
The ‘Good and New Clothes Sale’ hosted by charity For Rutland in Rutland will be on February 27 and 28 at Barnsdale Lodge Hotel.
The sale is the biggest of its kind in the country and attracts shoppers from many parts of the UK. The organisers and 60 volunteers work tirelessly all year round to ensure there are a high quality range or designers clothing and accessories.
Trish Ruddle, a fundraiser part of For Rutland in Rutland said: “This sale, one of the biggest of its kind in the country, is now nearly 50 years old. Our stock is collected, sorted checked and presented on rails to the best of our ability. It’s a lot of hard work but we have fun along the way.”
Some of the designer labels last year included Chanel, YSL, Rena Lange, Valentino, Christian Laboutin shoes, Dolce & Gabbana, Nicole Farhi, Maxmara and Joseph.
All the money raised from the sale provides funds for the Oakham based, non-medical adviser, The Rutland Wellbeing Partnership who offer free, confidential and impartial advice to the local people of Rutland affected by cancer, dementia and other long term illnesses.
Julie Emberton an adviser from The Rutland Wellbeing Partnership, said: “I can’t change the diagnosis, but I can offer practical help on a range of issues from housing to means tested and disability benefits. Depending on circumstances I may be able to assist with council tax redemption, free or subsidised transport costs to hospital or cheaper energy or housing costs. Checking what a client is entitled too can make a huge difference to their wellbeing.”
Any items of clothing left over will be given to Macmillan Cancer Support for a pop-up sale in Leicester.
