Pupils learn a 999 lesson

A PRIMARY school has been given an introduction into the work of the emergency services.

Waltham Primary School enjoyed a visit from Leicestershire Police, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service on Tuesday.

The visit was attended by Richard Edward’s of the ambulance service, Pc Simon Wright of the Lincolnshire Police and Neil Castledine crew manager for Melton Fire Station and a team of firefighters.

Pupils were split up into groups and took it in turns to visit a police car, fire engine and ambulance for a short talk and demonstration.

Headteacher Michael Henderson said: “The children seemed to really enjoy the day and most importantly it helped them understand what to expect if they ever need to really on the emergency services in their lifetime.

“It also helped encourage them to be safe when out and about.”
