A public examination into proposals for the Melton Local Plan will begin next month.
Planning Inspector Mary Travers will look into the soundness of the plan, which details preferred development and transport options across the borough for the next 20 years.
The hearing will start at 9.30am on Tuesday January 30 at the Melton Council offices on Parkside.
It follows a lengthy public consultation process in which more than 200 comments were submitted.
The draft plan provides for 6,125 new homes to be built by 2036.
