Rutland and Melton MP the Right Honourable Sir Alan Duncan has been officially knighted by the Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.
Sir Alan was awarded the title of Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG) in the summer for services to international development and UK/Middle East relations.
He recently attended the formal investiture ceremony where he received the honour in person.
Fifty years ago Sir Alan attended his father’s own investiture ceremony at the palace - Wing Commander James Duncan received an OBE for services to the Royal Air Force – and he was delighted to continue the tradition.
He said: “I’m deeply honoured and proud to receive this knighthood. It has been an enormous privilege to have helped contribute to Britain’s relationship with countries around the world, but in particular the Middle East, for which I retain a great passion and affection.
“To follow in my father’s footsteps by being recognised in this way is humbling and I’m extremely grateful.”
