Donna Compton has pedalled 64 miles by taking part in the Women V Cancer Ride the Night event around the streets of London, raising £768.66 for Breast Cancer in the process.

The driving instructor from Wymeswold took to the saddle with friend Ann Cairns who spotted the challenge on social media and wanted to find a way of keeping Donna positive.

Donna said: “The experience of this ride was amazing. We bothset off from Windsor on Saturday evening (May 28) and arrived back at 4.20am on the Sunday morning.

“I found some of London very tricky to cycle through due to the busy traffic, however, once we reached the London Eye, which was lit pink especially for the ocassion, the experience was worth it.

“A big thank you must go to the shoppers of Sainsbury’s in Melton who helped us raise £523.66 for this challenge.”

Last weekend Donna and Ann also biked 92 miles to Skegness as part of their training towards another cycling event, the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 in July.
