Village to unveil new sign in celebration
VILLAGERS in Wymeswold will celebrate the passing of the Olympic flame with the unveiling of a decorative village sign at Queen’s Park.
Parish council chairman Nick Shaw said: “We consulted with the village on how we should celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympic torch relay and life in Wymeswold in 2012 and we took up proposals to design and commission a village sign. It will be an historic day for the village.”
Local artist Susan Crinage was tasked with the artwork and the new sign will be unveiled by Wymeswold’s oldest born and bred resident, 92-year-old Bill Wootton, and the youngest pupil at Wymewold School.
