And refreshments were served-up from the village hall and church.

Proceeds from the event, which totalled around £7-8k, will be split between Rainbows Children’s Hospice, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and Hickling village organisations.

Organisers said the festival was a success, despite the first of the two days being interrupted by Tour of Britain which disrupted access to the village.

“The festival is still going strong after all these years,” said Margaret Woolley, for the organising committee.

“It is a great family weekend and it is always lovely to see the faces of kids, as they look round the village.”

Other attractions included a chariot race, traction engines, clog dancing, open church tower and much more.

The ever popular ‘Name the Scarecrow’ competition returned with people also asked to vote in the Public’s Choice Award.
