There was surprise and delight for performers and shoppers alike on Sunday, when students from Stagecoach Performing Arts School in Melton took part in their second bag pack and carol singing at Sainsbury's.

Over the two weeks, the group raised £434 which, added to the money raised at the raffle during their Christmas show at Melton Theatre, means that £535 will be shared equally between the Teenage and Children’s Cancer Trust at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Parkinsons UK.

School principal Jo Gallagher said: “We just can’t believe how generous the shoppers have been and, to top it all, bakery staff at the store brought us a plate of chocolate teacakes, which the students said were delicious.

“There really was surprise and delight all-round.”

Stagecoach Performing Arts School would like to express their thanks to Sainsbury’s for giving them the opportunity to raise so much cash for such deserving causes.
