Melton Council is one of three public sector organisations to have been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious national ACES Award for Excellence 2015.

ACES is the Association of Chief Estates Surveyors and Property Managers in the public sector and it comprises of the professional heads of property and asset management services in local authorities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The council’s award application is based around its collaborative working with partner organisations at its Parkside offices and how the authority set about realising its vision of delivering improved local services through closer collaboration with other public services, third sector and private sector organisations after the devastating fire at its former offices in May 2008.

Byron Rhodes, leader of the council and the lead member for resources, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. Parkside is a success story that demonstrates the collective benefits that can be gained from joint working and putting our customers at the forefront of what we do. The partnerships have given us cost efficiencies, helped us to improve knowledge exchange, trust and co-operation with partner organisations which have led to more successful projects such as Me and My Learning being delivered in Melton.”

The winner of this year’s award will be announced at an event in Edinburgh on Friday, November 13. The winner will also receive an unspecified cash prize, with the two runners-up being highly commended and also receiving certificates.
