Family’s tears and joy as Italy pip England to reach Euro 2012 semis

IT was agony and ecstacy in the D’Angelo household as Italy edged out England on penalties to reach the Euro 2012 semi-finals.

Caffe Italia co-owner Alison was cheering on the Three Lions with her daughter, Bella (12), while Alison’s husband and business co-owner Gaetano was routing for the Azzurri with their sons Joe (17) and Lorenzo (16).

Alison said: “Our house was an absolute riot with the England and Italy fans here.

“We were upset England lost but I think Italy deserved to win.

“It was an awful way to lose on penalties but at least we’re not going to lose to Germany now!”

The D’Angelo family, who live in Burton Road, are now united in support of Italy’s bid to lift the trophy. The Italians play Germany in tonight’s (Thursday) semi-final.
