Coronavirus: A third patient with the virus dies at Melton Hospital

A third patient with Covid-19 has passed away at Melton Mowbray Hospital, it has been confirmed this afternoon (Tuesday).

Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust said a man aged in his late 80s, and who had no underlying health conditions, died there on Thursday.

A woman in the same age range, who had an underlying health issue, passed away at the hospital on May 11 and a man. also aged in his 80s and who had also tested positive for coronavirus, died there on May 5.

A trust spokesperson said following the latest case: “The family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

Today’s news follows an update that the number of Covid-19 related deaths of Leicestershire patients at city hospitals, where the most serious cases are treated, has now reached 324.
