Visitors with mobility problems can now use a new stairlift to attend events at a Melton church.
Organisations and individuals have donated money to pay for the facility at Sage Cross Methodist Church, which has hundreds of weekly visitors.
Members launched a campaign to raise the cash a year ago when it became uneconomical to repair the existing stairlift.
When it didn’t work those who wanted to get to the kitchen or Wesley Hall, where community lunches are held, could not do so.
Rev Jane Carter, who takes services there, said: “The new lift offers an opportunity for the church to serve the community around it, making the whole premises accessible to all.”
