Michelle Farlow (27), of Kipling Drive, is looking forward to raising £1,500 for the charity - and with the marathon only 10 days away (April 26) she has managed to raise around £1,000 towards her total.

She said: “The Dog’s Trust is a fantastic charity which allows dogs to enjoy a happy life free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.

“It’s great to see a charity which gives all dogs the best chance in life, regardless of their background, breed, size or age.

“Having attended local events and dog shows arranged by the trust, I knew it was a charity I would love to raise money for.

“I have visited the Loughborough centre and it’s clear to see what an amazing job the staff and volunteers do.”

Michelle has been training for her 26.2-mile challenge since September 2014.

She has raised sponsorship through the support of friends and family and cake sales at her work.

Michelle will be taking part in a bag packing event at Melton’s Sainsbury’s store on Sunday with her sister to raise more funds.
