One of the leading lights at Melton Theatre enjoyed a day he said he would never forget after being invited to the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace.
Michael Harris, co-ordinator at the Asfordby Road venue, was one of 8,000 guests selected to attend for their dedicated professional or charity work.
Aside from the Queen, Prince Philip was also there, along with the Duke of York and the Duke of Kent, and although Mr Harris had a good view of the Royals he was not one of the lucky few to be introduced to them.
Two military bands played throughout the three-hour event and staff served tea in tents to those present.
Mr Harris said: “It is an event that not many people are lucky enough to attend so it was all very exciting and unexpected.
“To have seen the inside of Buckingham Palace and to be able to freely walk around the incredible gardens was a real honour and an experience that won’t be forgotten.”
