The service, which starts at 10.30am, will be led by the Reverend David Payne.

Guests will include the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, the High Sheriff of Leicestershire, chairman of Leicestershire County Council, and other civic heads from councils across Leicestershire and neighbouring authorities.

Representatives from other public sector, charity and voluntary organisations that serve Melton and the wider rural communities have also been invited.

The Mayor said: “The council’s mission is ‘Helping People, Shaping Places’ so we share similar objectives in our community roles to that of the church and our partner organisations.

“This service is about the dedication of the Mayor and the council to serve the community in Melton Borough. I extend a warm welcome to anyone who would like to join us for this special morning service.”

A retiring collection taken during the service will be divided between St Mary the Virgin’s Church and St John the Baptist Church at Muston.

A reception will be held afterwards in the church.
