A man was taken to hospital with a ‘serious bleed’ after reportedly punching the window of a Melton cafe during the early hours of Saturday (November 7).

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said the man was treated for injuries he sustained after falling onto shards of glass after the Samworth Centre cafe window was smashed at about 2am.

It’s understood the man made his way down Burton Street before collapsing in a pool of blood outside the Anne of Cleves pub. The area was cordoned off while emergency services attended the scene.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call during the early hours of Saturday morning reporting a male with a serious bleed on Burton Street, Melton. Our crew arrived on scene and were shortly followed by a doctor. The doctor travelled with the crew and patient to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham.”

The man’s injuries weren’t thought to be life-threatening according to the police spokeswoman.
