Make It Happen: More contenders for £10,000 community fund - don't miss your chance to bid for cash

More community groups have put in their bids for cash from the Ragdale Hall Make It Happen community chest.
The Springfield Circle social group received £300 fro last year's Make It Happen community chest which has enabled them to buy new garden furniture and plants for their courtyard. This year marks the 12th successive year of the unique scheme, a partnership between the Melton Times and Ragdale Hall which aims to help charities and organisations throughout the Melton borough.

Grants of between £200 and £1,000 are typically given out after the judges have decided who should benefit. All types of clubs, groups and organisations in the area are encouraged to bid for a share.

Successful applicants will be invited to a presentation evening at Ragdale Hall on Thursday, December 8.

Here’s some of the applications received so far:

* The Asfordby Amateurs Ladies, Girls and Inclusive FC is seeking £1,000 to put towards the cost of a defibrillator for the clubhouse.

Chairman Sharon Reason said: “Over 500 players will benefit, both from local clubs and clubs in and around Leicestershire.”

* Springfield Circle Community Group in Melton is applying for £250 to pay for a Christmas meal.

The social group for elderly people would like to fund a trip out for the meal in a bus.

Members raised money for Dr Barnardos and the Royal British Legion last year and this year are supporting the ‘Buy A Cow’ third world cause.
