The number of vulnerable families benefiting from a pioneering county council-led project is to treble.
Supporting Leicestershire Families (SLF) helps people tackle issues including drugs, truancy, unemployment, domestic violence, health problems and anti-social behaviour.
Melton Council, along with other district councils, police, NHS and other organisations work together with County Hall on the project, reducing the need for families to deal with several different agencies.
The trailblazing project is already helping 810 families but now, following the expansion of the Government’s national project, it will be rolled out to almost 3,000 more over five years.
Ivan Ould, County Hall’s cabinet member for children and families, said: “SLF makes it easier for vulnerable families to access vital support. This wider roll-out will enable us to reach another 500 families a year until 2020.”
