A Wymeswold woman is preparing for an epic London to Paris cycle ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
Judy Weston (50), who for many years has worked as a sales assistant in the shop at Six Hills Golf Club, near Melton, will be joining more than 200 cyclists on the mammoth 320-mile ride from September 5-7.
She’s being spurred on to keep pedalling by the memory of her father, Richard ‘Dick’ Childs, who died suddenly in 2010. Judy’s partner had a heart attack in 2012 but luckily he survived.
She said: “I’ve set myself a huge challenge of cycling from London to Paris covering 400k in three days. In the past I’ve taken part in several events with the furthest being 60 miles around the Vale of Belvoir in memory of my late father.
“My partner had a heart attack in 2012 and seeing the fantastic work which was achieved through the hard work which every penny that is donated is put towards, I hope people give whatever they can. I promise it will make such a difference and will mean a huge amount to me knowing I have their support.”
Judy has raised funds for her accommodation by holding a stall at a couple of car boots,
She’s aiming to raise at least £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation which is leading the fight against coronary heart disease - the UK’s single biggest killer.
