David Robinson treasurer of the show said: “The day was excellent and featured lots of different entrants including the children of Captains Close School.

“The judges all agreed that the standards were high, and most of the judges have been with us for the four years and will be back next year.

“We also had a raffle, tombola, bran tub (lucky dip), refreshments and a flower sale.

“As we do not charge for entry we don’t know how many people visited the show but based on raffle ticket sales it was very well attended.

“We’re not a profit making organisation and our aim is to raise funds to cover costs. Each year we give donations mainly to village organisations.

“In the past, this has included Bradgate Flats, Asfordby Brownies, Captains Close School, Rainbows and others. This years recipients will be decided at our annual general meeting in October.”
