A charity is running a new ‘Help to Hear Better’ course in Melton from the end of this month thanks to a grant received from Leicestershire County Council’s Shire Community Awards.
The Leslie Edwards Trust will run the course from September 29 at Melton’s Gloucester House (Age UK) every Thursday, 2pm to 4pm. Anyone with hearing loss can do up to three terms (each term lasts 10 weeks). It will cost £20 per term.
To celebrate National Lipreading Awareness Week (Sept 12-19) the charity has also organised a display at Melton Library explaining the benefits of learning to lipread.
With an estimated 60,000 people in Leicestershire who have trouble hearing clearly, ‘Help to Hear Better’ courses can give people the skills to manage day-to- day situations more confidently. They are fun and informative with plenty of opportunity to practise some lipreading Call lipreading tutor Jane Futcher on 07989 146682 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
