A village playground committee has received a significant funding boost from the People’s Postcode Lottery to upgrade equipment.

Harby Playground Committee who are a group of mums wishing to improve current park facilities have been awarded £2,000 from Postcode Community Trust.

Postcode Community Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. A total of 55p from every £2 ticket goes to support good causes across the UK and internationally.

Andrea Leonard, chair of the Harby Playground Committee and local mum, said: “This money has arrived at the perfect time and we, along with the children of Harby, are very grateful to all the players of People’s Postcode Lottery who made it possible.

“This month we’re installing our first piece of equipment, an adventure tower for toddlers, and our attentions are already turning to phase two, junior equipment. We’re hoping, funds permitting, to install our junior equipment in the first half of 2016.

“The money from People’s Postcode Lottery will pay for the purchase and installation of swings in the park. We need to raise around £70,000 and are raising this through targeted fundraising activities including grant and trust applications.”
