The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is hoping to attract volunteers from the Melton area who are interested in helping local people who are blind or partially sighted.
The charitable organisation - which doesn’t get any Government funding and relies on fundraising to maintain and improve it’s service - is inviting people to an informal open morning on Tuesday March 24 at Bishop Street Methodist Church, Bishop Street, Leicester, 10am until noon. Those attending can meet the Guide Dogs staff and dogs and find out how they could help local people who are blind or partially sighted.
Robert Jinks, Guide Dogs community engagement officer, said: “Sight loss is life-changing but so are guide dogs, not just for the people who need them but also to volunteers and their families. You become part of a bigger family with lots of support and lots of satisfaction from the difference you make. Come and join us for a coffee and find out more about our work, the valuable contribution of our volunteers and how you can become involved. “
