A group has registered an interest in running Leicestershire County Council’s community library in Bottesford.
County Hall has welcomed the news that 29 groups have shown an interest in running 36 of its community libraries. They will now be asked to submit detailed business plans.
The county council will now look at how it can encourage the remaining seven communities - including East Goscote - to submit bids to run their libraries.
The council currently runs 52 libraries. To save £800,000 it agreed to reduce opening hours at the main 16 libraries, including Melton, and encourage communities to run the remaining 36. For more details visit www.leics.gov.uk/futurelibraries
