She didn’t manage to win the overall title of Miss Great Britain but Chloe Jardine-Price proved herself the most talented of the 50 contestants in the finals on Friday night.
The 27-year-old, from Chadwell, near Melton, was ecstatic to win the ‘Miss Great Britain’s Got Talent’ section of the competition with a video of herself singing Sting’s song ‘Fields of Gold’ in a field at Scalford.
The film, which also depicted Chloe’s love of animals with footage of her with her beloved horse and dog, was shortlisted in the top 10 following an online vote. And then judges at finals night in Leicester, including the model and TV presenter Danielle Lloyd, declared it the winner.
Chloe, whose prize was a year’s contract with a music promotion agency, said: “When they played the other videos on the big screen people were chatting and not really watching them and then when mine came on the room went silent.
“It was a lovely feeling to win and everyone came up to me afterwards to say how good it was.
“I was presented with a little tiara, a sash and a stunning bouquet of flowers.”
The overall winner on the night was 20-year-old Zara Holland, the reigning Miss Hull, after all the contestants had paraded in evening wear and answered questions on stage.
Chloe, who qualified for the finals after winning the Miss Rutland title earlier this year, raised £1,100 for Cancer Research UK with a variety of fundraising activities in the run-up to the national pageant finals.
She added: “I had members of my family there and friends and they really enjoyed the show because it was entertaining - it wasn’t just girls walking up and down a catwalk.
“I got on really well with most of the girls but some of them were game-players - they knew the judges were looking for someone pretty and smiley who agrees with everyone but that’s not my personality and I will say what I think if not happy about something.
“Most of the girls were just there to enjoy the experience like I was.”
